GREAT LAKES AVIATION ANNOUNCES
RATIFICATION OF PILOT AGREEMENT WITH TEAMSTERS UNION
Spencer, Iowa -- November 14, 1997 -- Great Lakes Aviation, Ltd. (NASDAQ:GLUX) today announced that the pilot group represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters has ratified the recently negotiated agreement between the company and the pilots.
The three year agreement provides for an 11.7 percent wage increase over the life of the agreement and resolves all issues regarding benefits and working conditions between the parties. The ratification vote results were 86 percent in favor of approval and 14 percent for rejection of the contract.
Douglas Voss, Great Lakes' president and CEO, said "This agreement is the result of over 18 months of sincere efforts of all parties and, more importantly, is a fair and equitable arrangement for the company and the pilots alike."
Great Lakes flights serving Chicago-O'Hare, Denver and Minneapolis/St. Paul operate under the United Express marketing identity and flights between Springfield, IL and Chicago-Meigs Field operate with the Great Lakes Airlines identity. As of December 1, 1997, Great Lakes will provide scheduled service at 51 locations in eleven states.
