GREAT LAKES AVIATION WINS APPROVAL FOR ADDITIONAL TWENTY CHICAGO O'HARE SLOTS
Great Lakes Aviation, Ltd. (Nasdaq: GLUX) has secured approval for twenty takeoff & landing slot exemptions at Chicago O'Hare International Airport. The approval is a result of joint efforts by both the company and several U.S. Senators working closely with the U.S. Department of Transportation during the past year.
Over the course of the next three to six months new service will include nonstop United Express flights to Dubuque, Iowa, Sioux Falls , South Dakota, and Fargo, North Dakota to and from Chicago O'Hare. Upline service beyond Dubuque will include several one stop flights to Mason City, Iowa. Huron, South Dakota will likewise receive several one stop flights via the Sioux Falls flights. Flights serving Dubuque and Mason City will be schedule in Beechcraft 1900 airliners while the Sioux Falls, Huron and Fargo service will utilize thirty passenger Brasilia aircraft.
Preliminary plans call for four weekday roundtrips at Dubuque, three roundtrips at Fargo and three or possibly four nonstop roundtrips at Sioux Falls. All flights will be scheduled to make convenient connections at Chicago O Hare where together every business day United and United Express provide over 500 daily departures to over 125 destinations worldwide.
