GREAT LAKES AVIATION C.E.O. ENROUTE TO UNITED EXPRESS ACCIDENT SITE IN QUINCY, IL

BLOOMINGTON, Minn., Nov, 20, 1996 - Doug Voss, President and Chief Executive Officer of Great Lakes Aviation, currently is enroute to the accident site of United Express Flight 5925/5926 in Quincy, Il, to speak with Great Lakes employees and to work with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) in their investigation.

"All of us at Great Lakes Aviation offer our prayers and deepest sympathy to the families and loved ones of the victims of this tragedy," said Voss. "Our full resources are being applied to doing everything possible to help and comfort those affected by the accident. We are cooperating fully with the investigation of the cause of this accident and will continue to assist the NTSB in every way."

United Express Flight 5925/5926, a Beech 1900, was involved in a collision with a private aircraft after landing at the Quincy airport at about 5:05 p.m. last evening. The flight originated in Chicago and had made an intermediate stop in Burlington, Iowa. There were no survivors on board the aircraft, which carried 10 passengers and a crew of two pilots.

In addition to support from Voss and a Great Lakes Aviation employee team working with the NTSB, United Airlines employees are operating a special assistance center to provide support and information for the relatives and friends of those passengers on the flight.

All relatives and friends of the passengers have been contacted and United Express is awaiting permission from family members before the hometown of the passengers is released. Some family members have requested that a hometown not be made public.
