UNITED EXPRESS ANNOUNCES SERVICE ENHANCEMENTS AT MUSKEGON, MICHIGAN
Great Lakes Aviation, Ltd. ( Nasdaq: GLUX) operating as United Express announced today several improvements that will upgrade its service between Muskegon County Airport and Chicago O'Hare International Airport.
Beginning January 15th, 1997, all United Express flights serving Muskegon will be scheduled in new 1900D aircraft recently purchased from Raytheon Aircraft Corporation. These new aircraft feature a pressurized stand-up cabin for greater comfort levels , reclining leather seats, and higher cruise speeds. United Express recently took delivery of three new Beechcraft 1900D aircraft bringing the average age of a Great Lakes aircraft to 4.3 years.
In addition, flights serving Muskegon will no longer also serve Sault Ste. Marie and Pellston. Service in Sault Ste. Marie and Pellston will be provided for on other Great Lakes / United Express aircraft routings. This change in scheduled aircraft routing patterns will make the entire aircraft capacity on most flights available for Muskegon customers. On weekdays four nonstop roundtrips will be scheduled between Muskegon and Chicago O'Hare. On both Saturdays and Sundays a total of three nonstop roundtrips will be offered.
Customers on United Express flights enjoy convenient one-stop check-in, through baggage check and coordinated connecting schedules with United Airlines. Participants in United's Mileage Plus® frequent flyer program earn a minimum of 500 miles for each paid United Express flight. Flights between Muskegon and Chicago O'Hare are conveniently timed to make connections to the more than 500 daily departures provided there by United and United Express.
