Spencer, Iowa August 19, 1997 Great Lakes Aviation, Ltd. (NASDAQ:GLUX) will reinstate scheduled airline service at Fairmont, Minnesota beginning August 25, 1997.
Great Lakes had terminated service in February, 1997. On August 6th of this year Great Lakes and the U.S. Department of Transportation reached agreement on a revised level of subsidy that justifies the reinstatement of scheduled flights. Great Lakes will offer three well-timed round trip flights on weekdays between Fairmont and the Twin Cities. On Saturdays, a single round trip will be scheduled and on Sundays two round trips will be offered.
The new service will operate as United Express and flights have been timed to make connections with United Airlines flights to and from Denver and Chicago-OHare as well as with flights operated by Northwest Airlines and Northwest Airlink. With this revised pattern of service Fairmont is within reach of air travelers world-wide.
The United Express and United Airlines combination brings United Airlines entire product line to Fairmont travelers. Program features include a minimum of 500 miles credit for each flight in Uniteds Mileage Plus frequent flier program, senior citizen travel discounts, and through fares to and from the global network operated by United Airlines.
Flights will be schedules in pressurized 19 seat Beech 1900 regional airliners featuring reclining seats, drop-down tray tables and ample under-seat storage space for carry-on items. Flying time between Fairmont and the Twin Cities will be less than 40 minutes. Flights will depart Fairmont weekdays at 6:57am, 10:47am and 2:57pm. Flights returning to Fairmont will depart Minneapolis/St.Paul at 8:30am, 12:55pm and 8:10pm. All flights to and from the Twin Cities are nonstop.
