GREAT LAKES AIRLINES AND GREYHOUND LINES, INC. TO PROVIDE NEW INTERMODAL SECURITY-SCREENED TRANSPORTATION PRODUCT CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Oct. 20, 2003) Great Lakes Airlines and Dallas-based Greyhound Lines, Inc. today announced the introduction of FlightLink® transportation service between Denver International Airport and Cheyenne Airport in Cheyenne, Wyo., Fort Collins/Loveland Airport in Fort Collins, Colo., and Laramie Regional Airport in Laramie, Wyo. FlightLink, a ground service operated by Greyhound, will transport customers between airport terminal ramps and Great Lakes gates located at the Denver International Airport A concourse. It is scheduled to begin Nov. 12, 2003 in Cheyenne and Nov. 17 in Fort Collins/Loveland and Laramie. The service uses customized buses with amenities such as tray tables, window shades, reading lights and on select seats, power plugs for laptops and cell phones. Reservations can be made at www.greatlakesav.com or by calling 800-554-5111. Customer benefits include increased availability of discount fares, increased service frequencies at Cheyenne and Laramie, shorter ticket counter and security checkpoint lines than at major hub airports, and a secure, safe and comfortable travel experience. Once customers and their luggage check in for their trip and clear security screening, they are in the secure network and can transfer to flights at Denver International Airport without re-entering security. The buses pick up and drop off passengers at the same airport gates used by Great Lakes flights. Great Lakes and Greyhound worked closely with the Transportation Security Administration to ensure the buses and passengers remain in a secure environment throughout the trip. This new service will complement existing air service in both Laramie and Cheyenne, and will bring new travel choices for customers at the Fort Collins/Loveland airport. Customers will be able to mix air and ground products when booking round-trip services. Increased availability of new discount fares will be found on both air service and FlightLink service from Cheyenne and Laramie, and on FlightLink service from Fort Collins. This innovation is the result of collaboration between airline, airport, ground service professionals, and government agencies, said Douglas G. Voss, chairman, Great Lakes Airlines. This service increases access to the nations air transportation network for people in small communities. By combining the benefits of using existing airport facilities and resources to gain access to the nations secured air transportation network with cost-effective seat capacity, we will bring lower cost regionalized transportation to consumers. This unique mixed-mode partnership offering bus-to-air service is an example of how innovative intermodal transportation solutions can meet the needs of communities underserved by public transportation, said Stephen E. Gorman, president and CEO, Greyhound Lines, Inc. This service also is an excellent example of how Greyhound can adapt to the transportation needs of a community and work flexibly with other modes of transportation like air and rail. |
