Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kids robbed their first bank here. In 1891, George Westinghouse, L.L. Nunn and Nikola Tesla built the first alternating current power plant making Telluride the first town in the world to have electric street lamps. Becoming a ghost town in the 1950�s, Telluride did not come back until the 1970�s when the Telluride Ski Resort was formed. Along with the ski resort, summer festivals began.
