GREAT LAKES AVIATION TO INCREASE ITS UNITED EXPRESS FLYING AT DENVER
EFFECTIVE APRIL 2 AND JUNE 8, 2000
Spencer, Iowa -- March 27, 2000 -- Great Lakes Aviation, Ltd. (NASDAQ:GLUX) today announced that its United Express route structure at Denver International Airport will be expanded by an additional 24 weekday flights compared to its current schedule.
The expansion of service is planned in two steps with the first level of growth planned for April 2 when 12 flights will be added bringing weekday flights to a total of 214. Effective June 8, additional schedule expansion will bring Great Lakes Aviation's United Express service to a total of 226 weekday flights at Denver.
Beginning April 2, flights will be added in a number of markets; five flights will be added between Denver and Santa Fe, New Mexico bringing the schedule to eleven round trips; two flights will be added between Denver and Cheyenne bringing the schedule to eight round trips; a fifth round trip will be added between Denver and both Riverton and Sheridan in Wyoming; and a fourth round trip will be added between Denver and both Grand Island and Kearney in Nebraska. Beginning April 2, three one-stop flights between Denver and Pierre, South Dakota will be upgraded to non stops.
On June 8, further seasonal expansion at Denver is planned with the addition of two flights to Gunnison and the addition of a fourth flight to Hayden/Steamboat Springs in Colorado. Flights to these two destinations complement United Express service provided by Air Wisconsin. Also beginning June 8, service between Denver and Vail/Eagle will be increased from four to eight round trips on weekdays with seven round trips offered on both Saturdays and Sundays. On June 8, a sixth round trip will be added between Denver and Sheridan and a third daily round trip will be added between Denver and Telluride.
With the addition of these flights, Great Lakes will provide significantly increased access from these communities to the global network of United Airlines flights operating at its Denver hub.
As previously announced, flights between Denver and Lamar in Colorado, and to Goodland and Great Bend in Kansas will end on April 1. Great Lakes will also discontinue its United Express flights between Denver and Sioux Falls, South Dakota on June 8 when Air Wisconsin will add service in the market. Additionally, Great Lakes will end its United Express service between Denver and Spencer, Iowa on June 8.
