GREAT LAKES AVIATION ANNOUNCES LEASE OF ADDITIONAL MAINTENANCE, OFFICE AND
TRAINING FACILITY IN CHEYENNE, WYOMING.
Spencer, Iowa -- December 14, 1999 -- Great Lakes Aviation, Ltd (NASDAQ:GLUX) today announced that it has agreed to lease additional office and building space adjacent to the maintenance and office complex currently under construction at the Cheyenne Airport effective January 1, 2000. The current primary occupant, Preston University, as well as the Federal Aviation Administration will continue to lease space presently occupied in the building from Great lakes.
this additional building contains approximately 46,000 square feet of space and in the past was the home of Cheyenne Aero Tech, a maintenance training organization. The building contains classroom space that will be used for training by a number of departments. Work space available within the facility will allow the company to perform selected aircraft component maintenance and overhaul activity for its Raytheon/Beech 1900 fleet.
Great Lakes intends to accelerate the previously planned relocation from Spencer to Cheyenne of its Raytheon/Beech 1900 ground and flight training and its finance and human resources departments. Approximately 35 positions are targeted for relocation by mid-February, 2000.
Great Lakes Aviation operates its flights under the United Express marketing identity in conjunction with a code-share agreement with United Airlines. As of December 1, 1999, United Express flights were being provided at 67 airports in fourteen states with a fleet of eight Embraer EMB-120 Brasilias and 40 Beechcraft 1900D regional airliners. A total of 288 weekday flights are scheduled at its three hubs, with 88 flights at Chicago-O'Hare, 188 flights at Denver and 12 flights at Minneapolis-St. Paul. In addition, the company operates four weekday round trip flights between Springfield, IL and Chicago-Meigs Field.
