GREAT LAKES AVIATION ANNOUNCES THE
APPOINTMENT OF THOMAS J. AHMANN AS CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Spencer, Iowa -- January 12, 1999 -- Great Lakes Aviation, Ltd (NASDAQ:GLUX) is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas J. Ahmann effective January 25, 1999 to fill the currently vacant position of Chief Financial Officer.
The 59 year old Mr. Ahmann, a former Iowa native, had previously served as Chief Financial Officer for Destron Fearing Corporation (NASDAQ:DFCO) based in South St. Paul, Minnesota.

Great Lakes Aviation operates its flights under the United Express marketing identity under a comprehensive marketing agreement with United Airlines. As of January 1, 1999, scheduled service was being provided at 70 airports in thirteen states with a fleet of eight Embraer EMB-120 Brasilias and 40 Beechcraft 1900D regional airliners. A total of 286 weekday flights are offered at its three hubs with 102 flights at Chicago-O'Hare, 162 at Denver and 22 at Minneapolis-St. Paul. In addition, the company operates 8 weekday flights between Springfield, IL and Chicago-Meigs Field.
