CHEYENNE,
Wyo., June 3 Great Lakes Aviation,
Ltd. today announced that it will no
longer pay commissions to travel agents
for tickets sold in the United States
and Canada for travel throughout its
route structure.
The
Companys policy change follows the
lead of the majority of U.S. air
carriers, which have dropped travel
agency commissions.
Great Lakes President Doug Voss
stated:
We maintained our five percent
commission structure, even when the
major carriers eliminated travel agency
commissions earlier this year.
As the discount carriers
eventually discontinued paying
commissions and we continued to see
increases in use of Internet booking
products, it has become clear that we
must follow the industry in order to
maintain a competitive position.
As
of June 1, 2002, scheduled service was
being provided at 48 airports in fifteen
states with a fleet of Embraer EMB-120
Brasilias and Raytheon/Beech 1900D
regional airliners.
A total of 212 weekday flights
are scheduled at four hubs, with 168
flights at Denver, 24 flights at Chicago
 OHare International Airport, 14

All scheduled flights are
operated under the Great Lakes Airlines
