GREAT LAKES AVIATION TO REINSTATE UNITED EXPRESS FLIGHTS BETWEEN NORTH DAKOTA/SOUTH DAKOTA POINTS AND MINNEAPOLIS/ST PAUL

Spencer, Iowa August 26, 1999 Great Lakes Aviation, Ltd. (NASDAQ:GLUX) today announced that it will reinstate flights from locations in North Dakota and South Dakota to Minneapolis/St. Paul. Service was suspended today in response to continuing flight crew attrition.

Beginning September 12, 1999 service will be reinstated at Devils Lake and Jamestown with two weekday round trips and three weekend round trips. At Brookings and Huron in South Dakota, one weekday round trip will be added to Minneapolis/St. Paul on September 12 with a single round trip operating over the weekend period. A second weekday and weekend round trip will be added effective October 1, 1999. Flying will be reduced in a number of Denver markets to create the crew capability required for reinstatement of the Minneapolis/St. Paul flying.
